Chrome Extension Downloader combines available CRX/ZIP downloads with Chrome extension research for developers, product teams and AI agents. Start with a Chrome Web Store link, extension ID or name, then inspect version records, source code, collected reviews, user trends and permission evidence. For agent workflows, the read-only MCP service and REST API expose structured extension data, rankings, review search, comparisons and source-search results. Use them to compare competitors, investigate recurring complaints or examine permission signals. MCP connects over stateless Streamable HTTP at https://extensiondownloader.com/api/mcp. Authenticated REST and MCP access share an API key, permissions and account quotas. Setup: https://extensiondownloader.com/mcp Package downloads happen on the website, not through MCP or REST. Historical downloads depend on a captured package and eligible version; not every old or removed extension is available. Research data may have gaps, missing snapshots are not zero growth, and permission analysis is not a security certification. The API does not install extensions, trigger crawls or generate new AI summaries.
Problem it solves
Extension research is scattered across store listings, reviews, version records and source files. Chrome Extension Downloader brings those records together so builders and agents can compare alternatives, investigate feedback and inspect permissions before deciding what to use or build.
How it's different
Combines available CRX/ZIP packages with extension metadata, review search, historical trends, source inspection and permission evidence. A read-only MCP service and REST API make the collected research data usable in agent workflows.
