Weekly football club Power Ratings, league strength, runs and greatest sides

442ball is a football publication at 442ball.com. Its MCP connector gives AI assistants and agents 442ball's own weekly club Power Ratings and the ratings built on them, and every answer links to the 442ball page of each club and league it names. It is for football fans, writers, analysts, fantasy players and developers who want a sourced answer to questions like how strong a club is right now, which league is stronger, or who the greatest sides in a league's history are. An agent can look up a club's current Power Rating, its league rank and its band, which is the range the rating is expected to sit within. It can compare two clubs side by side, show how a club's rating has moved over time, rank the clubs in a league and give that league's strength, and compare European leagues on the 442 League Index. It can also find the week's biggest risers and fallers, a club's current and longest runs, the longest runs in a league, and the greatest sides in a league's history since 2010/11, and it can explain in plain words how the ratings are calculated. 442ball calculates the ratings itself from the results of league, cup and continental matches, weighing each result by the strength of the opponent, and recalculates them every Monday. The method was fitted on the 2010 to 2018 seasons and tested on 2019 to 2025. The ratings measure how strong results have been; they are not predictions or odds. The connector is read-only, needs no account or API key, and runs over streamable HTTP at https://mcp.442ball.com/mcp. It never returns scores, fixtures, lineups, player statistics or data from 442ball's football data provider. It is listed in the Claude connectors directory and the official MCP Registry.

Problem it solves

League tables cannot be compared across leagues, and AI assistants often guess or cite unsourced figures on club strength. 442ball gives agents one weekly, consistent rating for clubs and leagues, with a link to the source page behind every answer.

How it's different

442ball's own ratings, built from finished results and weighted by opponent strength, not odds or outside ratings. Each rating shows its band, leagues share one index, history goes back to 2010/11, and every answer links to its page. Read-only, no account.

From the maker

I am building 442ball because I wanted one honest answer to a question football fans argue about every week: how strong is a club really, and how does one league compare with another? League tables cannot answer that across leagues, so 442ball calculates its own club Power Ratings every Monday from finished results, weighed by the strength of each opponent. As more people ask AI assistants about football, I wanted those answers to come from a consistent, sourced rating rather than a guess. So the ratings are also available through this read-only connector, and every answer links back to the 442ball page of the club or league it names, so anyone can check where a number came from. I would love feedback from anyone who tries it in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other client.
